All fountain solutions lose strength over time due to contamination
(some sooner than others). One of the major causes of weakened
fountain solution is the build-up of calcium carbonate from paper
fillers. As calcium carbonate builds up within the fountain solution
system, it neutralizes and weakens the solution. This contamination
can cause a variety of press issues, including the filling in of reverses
and fine screen, image blinding, and uneven wetting. As a result the
fountain solution has to be dumped and replenished prematurely,
costing you time and money.
Now you can control these issues and extend the life and
performance of your fountain solution. Etch Control suspends
built-up calcium within the fountain solution, allowing you to
produce sharp, clean halftones, reverses, and screens. It also
runs metallic inks with the easy of conventional inks, reduces
water settings, prints dense solids, and helps to eliminate
ghosting. Etch Control stops scratches, scumming, and oxidation
before they occur and removes them if they do occur.
Advantages:
- Suspends built-up calcium within the fountain solution
- Cleans and desensitizes the plate on every revolution of the
plate cylinder
- Runs metallic inks with the easy of conventional inks
- Stops scratches, scumming, and oxidation
- Keeps reverses razor sharp and fine screens clean
Recommendations for use:
Dosage: 0.8% per liter of mixed fountain solution. If necessary
increase up to 1.6% of volume in water circulation system.
For permanent removal of deep scratches during the print run:
Add an additional 0.8% Etch Control to the fountain solution system.
Remove the ink from the scratch on the plate, using a regular
plate cleaner. Pour Etch Control onto a clean shop towel, wipe
onto the scratch on the plate. Using it directly on the plate will
keep the deep scratch clean until Etch Control takes over in the
fountain solution.
